A Meeting Was Held with the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC).

On Tuesday, March 3, 2026, Mr. Tatsuyuki Amano, Managing Executive Officer of the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC), and other representatives visited the Arid Land Research Center.
First, Trustee Seiji Kageyama introduced the University’s research promotion framework, which leads research activities across the entire university, as well as the “Tottori NEXT Innovation Initiative,” which advances organized industry–government–academia collaboration. This was followed by an explanation from Professor Reiji Kimura, Vice Director of the Arid Land Research Center and Assistant to the Director of IPDRE, on the history of the Center and its advanced research activities.
Mr. Amano commented that he had gained a clearer understanding of the Center’s pioneering role in addressing issues related to drylands, and expressed his hope that the technologies developed there would be further advanced and applied in overseas projects. He also indicated his wish to continue sharing views and exchanging opinions in the future.
After the discussion, the visitors toured the facilities of the Arid Land Research Center, including exhibits of representative dryland plants in the Arid Dome, as well as testing facilities and experimental equipment such as chambers that can reproduce desert climate conditions. They showed strong interest in the research achievements of both IPDRE and the Center.
