The second field research in Morocco

We had our second field trip to Morocco from April 14thto 20th, 2019.

This year, 3 students of doctoral degree had participated in thisfield trip to improve their language skills and to learn the practical researchmethod of dryland science. They visited an ICARDA (International Center ofAgricultural Research of Dry Areas)’s institution, North Africa Platform inRabat, and also had a study tour for related institutions and farmers inBeni-Mellal and Meknes.

During the field trip, they visited some research sites to learn aboutbreeding, analysis of components and controlling the pest-disease of wheat andbeans which are important species in dryland. They had discussions with localresearchers and farmers about the relationship between stockbreeding andagriculture, and the sustainable agricultural method which is eco-friendly suchas the water conservatory irrigation and the no-till cultivation.

Itwas a great experience for students to see the real situation of drylandagriculture and research method which they had studied in the lecture.

Wewill continue taking students to the field research and trying to form them tobe specialists and experts who can work internationally in the future.

The ICARDA researcher gives an instruction to students at breeding filed in Rabat.
