Graduate School of Sustainability Science, Department of Dryland Science 鳥取大学 持続性社会創生科学研究科 国際乾燥地科学専攻

The Mid-term Review of the Department of Dryland Science (M1) held on Thursday, November 30, 2023

The first-year students of the master's course,14 students from the General Course and 5 students from the Special Course, gave presentations on their master's thesis research. This event provides a valuable opportunity for students to have a good peek into each other's research and to obtain feedback from professors and students in different fields, thus helping them re-evaluate their own research and be ready to tackle the rest of their thesis process successfully. Professor Inosako, the Head of the Department of Dryland Science, said that the event was very well attended by many faculty members, undergraduate and doctoral students in addition to the first and the second- year master’s students.

The second-year master’s students helped setup the venue and provided a reception service. Many participants supported the event by actively engaging in discussions during the presentations by the first-year students.

The Best Presentation Award winners were chosen based on the Short Talks (two-minute versions of the presentations made available online) and the poster presentations given at the event; Akimori Terada and Yukino Mimura collected most points and received the award.

"These two winners were the ties but their research fields are completely different from each other, which shows that our department covers a wide range of research fields", commented Professor Inosako at the award ceremony held on Friday, December 15, 2023 in the Faculty of Agriculture building. He added congratulatory remarks and wished them further success in their future research endeavors.
