4. Job description
  • (1) Basic and/or applied research that contributes to the solutions of challenges facing drylands, particularly on land degradation and its restoration;(2) Education and capacity building to resolve challenges in drylands;
  • (3) Coordination of joint activities between Tottori University and overseas organizations;
  • (4) Supervision of research projects of the International Platform for Dryland Research and Education as a general advisor.

Fulltime (annual salary)

9. Qualification and other requirements
The applicant must
  • (1) have a PhD degree;
  • (2) have sufficient ability and experience to fulfill duties stated in the “4. Job Description”;
  • (3) have work experience in supervisory/management roles in research projects;
  • (4) be a native English speaker or have its equivalent proficiency.

10. Documents required
  • (1) Dossier (use this form); 
  • (2) Copies of a maximum of 30 publications of “4. Books/Book Chapters”, “5. Refereed Journal” and “6. Reviews, Research Reports, Proceedings, etc.” listed in the Dossier. For publications which are in print, submit the acceptance letters from the journals or publishers. For “7. Patents”, submit the document that verifies the grant of patent;
  • (3) Summary of major research achievements mainly related to drylands and its challenges. (Maximum 2 pages in A4 size paper);
  • (4) Future research plan/objectives at the International Platform for Dryland Research and Education (maximum 2 pages in A4 size paper);
